KB GSM: Wholesale B2B E-Commerce & Inventory Sync
A trade store for mobile repair parts and accessories, with quick SKU search and stock levels that update themselves instead of being keyed in by hand.
The Challenge
The old store lost a lot of carts to slow mobile loading, a payment step that kept failing and a disorganised catalogue of 2,000+ SKUs. A 2,000-SKU parts catalogue is a different problem from a normal shop. Mobile repair technicians do not browse. They arrive knowing exactly which part they need for a specific handset model, and they need to confirm compatibility, price and stock in under a minute, often while a customer waits at their counter. If finding the part takes longer than ringing a supplier, they ring the supplier. So the three symptoms compound in a particular order. Poor organisation means the part is hard to find. Slow mobile loading means every search step costs seconds. And a checkout that fails at the payment stage wastes all of it, after the buyer has already done the work.
What We Built
We rebuilt around the way trade buyers actually shop. Faceted real-time product search is the core of the build, not a feature on top of it. With this many near-identical SKUs, filtering by model, category and compatibility is the product. Search had to return results as the buyer types, because a technician checking three possible parts should not wait through three page loads. One-click checkout removes friction at the point where abandonment was happening. Repeat trade buyers should not re-enter details they have already given you. Multi-tier wholesale pricing handles the reality that the same SKU carries different prices for a walk-in buyer, a regular trade account and a bulk purchaser. Building that into the catalogue rather than handling it by phone is what lets trade customers self-serve. Automated inventory sync keeps the listed stock position honest. Selling a part you no longer have is worse for a trade relationship than showing it as out of stock, because the technician has already promised it to their own customer.
What Changed for the Client
KB GSM saw mobile checkout completions rise in the weeks after launch. The underlying change is that the store became usable as a working tool rather than a catalogue. A technician can check compatibility, see their own pricing tier and complete an order from a phone on a workbench, which is the only context in which these purchases actually get made.
