Someone drives across town to collect an order. Google Maps said you were open. The shutters say otherwise. By the time you hear about it, the customer has already rearranged their day and may have bought from someone else. A short pre-holiday check can prevent that trip.
Start with your Google Business Profile
Check each location separately. Use special hours for a bank holiday, a one-off closure or a day you will open late. If you offer collection, appointments and phone support at different times, make those differences easy to find. A clear line such as ‘Collection until 2 pm’ is more helpful than an unexplained change in opening hours.
Check the places customers use next
Look at your contact page, booking calendar and any pinned social post. Search for your business from a phone and check what a customer sees in Maps. Then try making a booking for the holiday. If the calendar offers a time your team cannot honour, close those slots before promoting your opening hours.
Give the next available option
If you are closed, say when you will reopen and when someone can expect a reply. If urgent work is available, explain exactly which services it covers and where to call. For service-area businesses, spell out which areas you will cover during the holiday when that differs from your normal schedule.
Set up a two-person check
A week ahead, one person updates the profile, website and booking calendar. A second person checks the public listings from a phone. On the first working day back, check that regular hours and booking availability are showing again.
